Dance Descriptions  
Ballet
  Routine that includes classical ballet steps and technique ballet slippers only.
 
Character
  A routine portraying a recognizable character with music, costume and dance.  This category
  must portray the character throughout the routine with dance.
   
Contemporary
   Is the name given to a group of 20th century concert dance forms. It is a collection of systems and methods developed from Modern and Postmodern dance. Thus contemporary dance is not a specific dance technique. European, Canadian and American contemporary dance differ from each other in a number of ways.  It is very close to the street dancing but more formal.
Jazz
 
Must contain standard jazz technique (extensions, elevations, control, turns, etc.) as opposed to street style, which requires little ballet training.  Street dance moves may be incorporated into jazz techniques, but no more than 50%. 
   
Hip Hop
 
Latest street dances.  Ballet or legitimate jazz required.
 
Lyrical
  Routine using balance, flexibility and control utilizing the lyrics or mood of the music.
   
Modern
  Interpretive dance in the contemporary modern styles with the use of control and balance.
   
Musical theatre
  A routine featuring any style of dance interpreting a song from "Broadway" musical or movie.
   
Open Variety Arts
  Any combination of categories or categories not listed. Novelty, musical acts, and 100% lip sync are also included in this category.
   
Pointe
  Routine that includes  classical steps and Pointe technique (Point shoes only).
   
TUMBLING

Basic Tumbling or Beg. Tumbling

  Handstands, forward/backward rolls, cartwheels, back arches (bridges); work on building strength in core, arms and shoulders.
   

Intermediate Tumbling or Tumbling I

  Includes basic tumbling with a focus on building strength and skills for handstand walks, walkovers, limbers, back arch walks, round offs and prep drills for back handsprings.
   

Advance Tumbling or Tumbling II

  Standing backhand springs, tucks, etc., aerials and running tumbling.

Advance tumblers must be cleared by Mr. Jason.

   

Parent/Tot Gymnastics Class

  The parent/tot gymnastics class is an introduction to gymnastics and tumbling.  Children work fine and gross motor skills with lots of parental hands-on assistance.  Stations and lessons are developed by our instructors.  The initial focus is on having fun with exercise and developing confidence.  This class is for children from 18 months to 36 months of age. (only offered in the summer)
   

Preschool Gymnastics/Tumble Class

  The Preschool Gymnastics/Tumble classes are specifically designed to develop fine and gross motor skills, strength and beginning tumbling skills.  Stations and lessons are  developed by our instructors.  The gymnasts are trained to master very basic tumbling skills while building self-esteem and self confidence.  This class is for children from age 3 to 5. (Offered in the Winter/Spring Session)
   

Preschool Gymnastics/Tumble Class

  The Preschool Gymnastics/Tumble classes are specifically designed to develop fine and gross motor skills, strength and beginning tumbling skills.  Stations and lessons are  developed by our instructors.  The gymnasts are trained to master very basic tumbling skills while building self-esteem and self confidence.  This class is for children from age 3 to 5.(Offered in the Winter/Spring Session)
   

Cheer / Tumble Cheerleading Class

  Skills, drills and strength are stressed in this beginner, intermediate, and advanced cheerleading class to help develop tumbling skills and jumps utilized in high school and competitive cheerleading.  Our cheer and Tumble instructor work with athletes of all skills and age levels to enhance their performance and increase their competitiveness.  this class is for children ages 7 and up.  The athlete will be able to perform all skills in synchronization to counts. (Offered in the Winter/Spring Session)
   

Home School Tumbling Class

  These classes are specifically designed for boys and girls that are home schooled and carefully constructed to address each individuals needs and skill level.  Our tumbling classes provide home schooled athletes with an environment that promotes physical fitness, self-discipline, self-confidence and self esteem.  A minimum of six participants is required for a class.
   

Back Handspring Class

  Highly focused class to help you achieve the perfect back handspring.

This class is designed to help a student focus solely on achieving a solid back handspring.  Participants must be able to successfully master the basic and intermediate tumbling skills as described in class descriptions.  The athlete will be introduced to the back handspring and master the skill.  The participant will begin skills that will help their bodies develop to be a strong tumbler and/or cheerleader.
